Andrea is a mentor for MASS Sculpture School
Andrea V Wright is a creator of tactile sculptural collages. Often utilising found media, her
sculpture practice is concerned with the re-use and re-purposing of materials, dividing
mass-produced objects from their original functionality. Playing with density, fluidity, and
accretion, many of her works create form through experimenting with the relationship
between a solid armature and pliable material draped or suspended within it, forging a
compelling juxtaposition of surfaces and textures. This yoking of malleable matter
repeatedly recalls organic forms, posing the body as a set of relations between hard and
soft, and asking questions about the occupation of architectural space by both bodies and
sculptures.
